From Pre-School to High School, we seek to equip students with English skills and a relationship with Christ.
Concordia Middle School
CMS was founded in 1967 by LCMS missionaries. It is a private Chinese Christian school that includes both junior high (7th grade to 9th grade) and senior high (10th grade to 12th grade). This ministry of the China Evangelical Lutheran Church employs foreign teachers to instruct thematic English classes and Bible (in English) to over 2000 students in the least evangelized region of the country. Foreign teachers have an average class size of 20 students that they see one to two times a week. CMS has an alternative program called Applied Foreign Languages (AFL) for students in the senior high wishing to focus studies in fields of tourism and business. Foreign teachers instruct English (reading and writing) and Bible three times a week for AFL. The Gospel is proclaimed to the students through the foreign teachers as well as through various activities organized by the school’s religion department.
Concordia English Language Academy (CELA) was started in 2000 by LCMS missionaries. CELA has elementary grade levels from first grade to sixth grade. Each grade is split into two classes with a maximum of 25 students each. Foreign teachers instruct Bible, phonics, reading, writing, and conversational English two or three times a week. Each grade level has a native Taiwanese teacher and a native English-speaking teacher. CELA also shares teachers with a partner after-school language program on-campus called Concordia English.
Established in the 1980’s, Concordia Kindergarten is a full-time pre-school program with around 300 students. Classes are split into three levels, ranging from 3 to 6 years old, with an average class sizes around 30 students. Twice a week foreign teachers share Jesus in an English setting through Bible lessons with songs and activities.
